EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY
SCOTT DORMITORY - ADDITION / RENOVATION

GREENVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

The Scott Dormitory Renovation and Addition began with a study of the existing building and various dorm suite layouts which reflected the needs of the University. The dormitory building, built in 1962, was increased from 488 beds to 619 including the addition of 17 new suites. The entire 92,500 square foot building was renovated with a 35,000 square foot addition closing in the courtyard. The renovation included new suite configurations, windows, doors, furnishings, bathrooms, and a lower resident to bathroom ratio. Each room and common area has an accessible entrance, along with new ADA accessible rooms. The building was abated of hazardous materials and the mechanical system, fire alarm system, emergency generator, and other life safety systems were replaced or upgraded. The site work included new steam extensions, storm water drainage, asphalt paving, and landscaping. New voice and data cabling and security cameras were also added, improving the safety and networking capabilities of the dormitory.
