Jess was born in Johnston County and grew up on a horse farm outside of Jacksonville, North Carolina. She studied art and visual communication at UNC-Chapel Hill, while earning a degree in journalism. A long-time interest in the built environment led her to the four-year master of architecture program at NC State University.
Since joining Davis Kane Architects in 2001, Jess has designed projects for SAS Institute, Inc, Durham and Wake County public school systems, and East Carolina University. She has completed feasibility studies for her alma mater, NCSU. Jess strives to incorporate sustainable principles into each project. She became a Registered Architect in 2009.
Outside of work, Jess loves to spend time with her son, Eli, and husband, Rob. She enjoys volunteering with her neighborhood church, Avent Ferry United Methodist.
