Kinston Fire Station no.1

KINSTON, NORTH CAROLINA

SUMMARY

The new 16,190 square foot free standing fire station is centrally located in the City for the Kinston Fire Department response. Once completed, fire staff were relocated from the previous historic location adjacent to Kinston City Hall to the new fire station. It is slab-on-grade, with a combination of steel frame and load-bearing concrete masonry wall structure. Exterior finishes include brick masonry and an exposed fastener metal panel system. The fire station features 6 drive-through apparatus bays, the associated gear/storage rooms, private sleeping quarters for 30 people, captains’ offices, a large day room, and training room that can operate as an emergency operations center. Davis Kane worked closely with the Owner to assist during the process of securing federal funds for the development and implementation of the project, including grant application submittal procedures.
